What is Collagen Induction Therapy?
Hyaluronic acid and colostrum gel is used during the treatment to help hydrate the skin and minimize fine lines. This can be purchased after your treatment (see below). The treatment promotes the natural reproduction of collagen and elastin, making the skin feel smoother and tighter. Creating only microscopic punctures in the epidermis, skin needling is minimally invasive with little damage to the epidermis which means the collagen production is significantly quicker than some other more aggressive treatments.
CIT is a natural skin rejuvenation approach helping to prevent wrinkles and is an effective alternative to Botox and fillers. Collagen Induction Therapy is the only skin rejuvenation treatment to target and regulate 3 key skin cells (keratinocyte, melanocyte and fibroblast) without compromising the integrity of the epidermis. The growth factors released through Collagen Induction Therapy results in regenerative healing (collagen forms from the base upwards) and is type III collagen or healthy collagen as opposed to the growth factors released when when the epidermis is damaged by ablative or heat methods which in contrast produce cicatricial healing (collagen forms from the top down) and is type I collagen or scar collagen.
Collagen Induction Therapy does not damage the skin... it leaves the epidermis intact which is the protective layer of our skin.
Collagen Induction Therapy stimulates your body's own collagen production in the dermal layer which is where collagen resides and is formed. Results are natural, not fake or plastic looking. No foreign substances are injected. Skin becomes thicker. Collagen and elastin increase up to 1000 percent. Any part of the body may be treated. The healing period is short (1-2 days). Less expensive and more effective than laser treatments.
Safe for people with darker skin thus no fear of hyperpigmentation (dark spots). Effective on peri and post-menopausal women. Skin does not become sensitive to the sun. Safe for individuals who have had laser resurfacing. Changes may occur in dilated blood vessels that may cause them to disappear.

How Exactly Does collagen induction Work?
It is the controlled stimulation of the skin’s ability to self-repair. The thousands of micro ‘channels’ created in the skin, not only trigger new collagen production but also allow any products applied to penetrate deep into the skin and heal the skin further.

The All Important Healing Process after collagen induction
Although it is still beneficial to have a one-off treatment, and it will still give results, just obviously not as significant, or as good, as having the two or three in the specified time period.
After collagen induction there are three stages of skin remodeling that take place:
1. Inflammation – This begins directly after the treatment, the skin is red and inflamed.
2. Inflammatory response – Chemicals are released that stimulate new collagen tissue.
3. Collagen formation – The actual remodeling of healthy collagen and elastin fibers continues for up to 1 year.
