What is Micro Needling ?
Dermaroller Therapy, also known as medical skin needling or micro-needling, is a new minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment designed to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles as well as scars on the face and body. The treatment uses tiny needles or micro-needles on a medical-grade roller that is moved over the skin to create tiny, evenly-spaced puncture wounds on the skin. This process stimulates the body’s natural collagen production by generating a wound healing response. The roller used is much like a fine tattooing needle, so should cause minimal trauma when creating the microscopic punctures in the skin. However, topical local anesthetic can be used to minimize discomfort. By damaging the skin you encourage the body to produce new collagen and elastin, which helps it thicken and ‘plump up’. The procedure can be performed on the face and body.
Micro-Needling creates small channels into the deep layers of the skin which break up the old collagen strands, and stimulate the creation of new ones.
Although Micro-Needling may look a little aggressive, with its needles, it is actually much more gentle than you may think. This is because, unlike treatments like peels and laser resurfacing, Micro-Needling does not harm the epidermis, the very top layer of skin. As the small handheld roller with its micro needles is gently rolled over the area being treated, it creates pin point punctures. The pores of the top layer of the skin are parted without being damaged, leaving the epidermis, intact. It is the length of the needle used which determines whether or not anesthetic is required prior to treatment.
The length of the needles also determines the results gained. Essentially, the rule of thumb is longer the needle the better the results (although it’s not quite that simple as the depth of the skin in the area to be treated, its current condition, the area, the clients lifestyle must all be taken into consideration). The shortest needles are reserved for home use rollers.
Micro Needling is a rejuvenating treatment for the skin, leaving the skin revitalized and younger looking. By persistently triggering the healing process by using skin needling the body continues to heal itself until the desired level of skin repair is achieved.
The objective of micro-needling is to build up the connective tissue in the lower skin layers (dermal layers) while keeping intact the protective layers of the skin (epidermal layers). Small needle clusters of either a dermaroller or a hand held device penetrate into the skin and break up old collagen strands and stimulate the production of elastin fibers oriented from the deep layers of the dermis to the surface. The result is smoother, thicker, tighter, more even toned skin The problem with lasers and aggressive chemical peels is that the dermis is an extremely complex, highly specialized organ.
It may only be 0.2 mm thick but it is our only protection from the environment. We should never damage the epidermis unless the risk of leaving the epidermis intact is greater than the risk of removing it. Whatever we do, we should try to ensure that the basic architecture of the skin is not altered. To rejuvenate skin and look young, we need a perfect epidermis with natural dermal papillae, good hydration, normal color and normal resilience. When we have aggressive laser treatments and chemicals peels, over time we thin our epidermis and decrease our dermal papillae which results in inflamed, drier and more wrinkled skin.
During the Micro Needling process, the dermaroller or hand held device will penetrate through the epidermis but does not remove it. Since the epidermis is only punctured, it will heal rapidly. Micro Needling can penetrate the skin anywhere from 0.5 mm to 2 mm depending on the depth of the skin condition needing remediation. The skin bleeds slightly but for only a short period (seconds). In the dermis the skin develops multiple micro bruises that initiate the complex cascade of growth factors that eventually result in collagen production. New collagen production can be further increased by the use of Pelle Dolce Skin Care products, such as Our Anti Aging Creams and Our Anti wrinkle cream supreme.
For years, Hollywood’s elite secretly used The Medical Dermaroller to fade stretch marks, acne scars, sun damage and wrinkles. It’s completely natural and non-invasive. So there’s no downtime or risk of side-effects. Best of all, your results look so natural and lasts so long, people think you always had that youthful, smooth skin.
How does The Medical Micro Needling Dermaroller work ?
The Medical Dermaroller uses hundreds of micro needles to penetrate your skin. After applying a topical anesthetic, your doctor rolls The Medical Dermaroller onto your target area. This triggers cell growth. The reaction “fills” these micro holes with new collagen and elastin.
What does The Medical Micro Needling Dermaroller treat ?
It’s ideal for any region on your body where you’d like to:
• Reduce wrinkles
• Fill scars from acne and chicken pox
• Shrink large pores
• Reduce certain scars from surgery or burns
• Even skin pigmentation
• Fade stretch marks
• Tighten sagging skin
• Normalize oily skin
• Smooth skin texture in trouble regions like arms & buttocks
How quickly can I see results ?
You see results within 2-3 days after treatment. Because collagen production occurs naturally and at the cellular level, your skin continues looking smoother and firmer up to 8 weeks after treatment. Improvements can last up to two years with regular use of the Dermaroller.
Why is Micro Needling better than laser and peels ?
Chemical peels and lasers work by removing or destroying cells, which thins the skin – making it fragile. Instead, The Medical Dermaroller stimulates and renews skin cells so:
• You return to regular activities after treatment
• There’s no post treatment pain, bleeding or bruising* • It’s safe on all skin types
• There’s no risk of scarring or other side-effects
• You can repeat treatments for younger, healthier skin
• in rare instances, tiny bruises may occur
